Saka Dawa Festival
Saka Dawa is the threefold festival that celebrates the birth, death and nirvana of Lord Buddha and is also considered the holiest day for Mahayana Buddhist. On this day people visit the monastery and light butter lamps with faith and belief. Then they join the procession of the monks to get the blessing of the Holy Scriptures that are carried by the monks from Tsuk -La -Khang Monastery, this procession is the highlight of the festival. Saka Dawa falls on the full moon day of the 4th month of Buddhist lunar calendar around the end of May and early June.
